Thanks Fr. D

Good Fr. Daren has tagged me with this meme about me. Hummm, non-important facts about me - so many to choose from, so few to post. Herewith the rules:

1. When tagged place the name and URL on your blog.
2. Post rules on your blog.
3. Write 7 non-important things/habit/quirks about yourself.
4. Name 7 of your favorite blogs.
5. Send an email/comment on their blog letting them know they have been tagged.

So here I go...

1. When brushing my teeth, I wet the toothbrush, apply toothpaste and then wet the toothbrush again. If I deviate from this, the toothbrush is too dry.

2. I like to iron clothes.

3. When I serve a tennis ball, I have to bounce the ball three times before I begin my serve. And if my concentration is broken and I have to start again, I have to bounce the ball three times again.

4. I wash my face before and after I wash my hair.

5. I like to watch "White Christmas" in the middle of the summer.

6. I have very oily skin, but at "just this side of 50" I have almost no wrinkles ( I knew that oily skin would pay off some day).

7. I can bmke chocolate chip cookie dough with out using a recipe - it is burned into my brain.

And now I tag Barb, Chris, Michele, Margaret,The Kitchen Madonna,Kimberlee, and Cheryl.

PTSD - Post Triduum Sitting Disorder

Once again, Easter has come and gone and with it the sacred Triduum. It is one of the most beautiful three days in the church year. I have attended this for most of my life, with the exception of a few years when college made me "too cool" to attend. However, for the first time in about the last ten years, I was glad it was over. And for selfish reasons, I am afraid. In fact, by the time the vigil mass was over, I was suffering with a horribly sore back from sitting on hard pews so much.

Many of you have read about the merger of my parish with another. Although we have not officially become one parish yet, our Easter Triduum was combined. And it was just not the same. Besides having a new pastor, we are two communities that I liken to the Hatfields and McCoys - not the best mix of people.

Now, I am the first person who gets frustrated when people complain that things are not the way they have always been, and I don't mind change. But this year, I felt as if the three days were a throwback to my youth when the masses and services lasted forever. I definitely preferred the simplicity of the previous few years.

Our Holy Thursday lasted an hour and a half. Good Friday took two hours and our Easter Vigil was two and a half hours long. Our new pastor, while young (under 45) is nice, he is a fan of the old ways and so every thing was sung and the longest versions of all the readings were used. About the only thing he cut was the readings at the beginning of the vigil from 8 to 4. We had three priests, three deacons and four altar servers in the sanctuary which, coupled with the repository and tomb made it quite crowded. I love these three days, but I love when they are done more simply - I am not one for lots of pomp.

So today my back is finally feeling better. And I pray that things will be better next year.

In your face...

Today our home took on a new look - we had a 50" plasma TV installed. And when you watch TV, it is definitely in your face. I am definitely a TV-aholic and this certainly will satisfy my TV cravings.

This TV was my husband's idea. He works long hours and when he gets a chance to sit down and watch TV or a movie, he wants to see it on a big screen. And he has gotten his wish.

We had the company do the installation. After having a new entertainment center delivered a few weeks ago, and listening to him try to re-hook up the cable box, the DVD player and the receiver to the old TV was not a pleasant experience, so he made the decision to have it installed - good choice. It took two guys about an hour and a half to do the installation and they knew what they were doing. Plus, if it falls off the wall, they have to replace it.

So tomorrow after work, I will venture out and purchase a new Blu-ray movie so we can hang out, eat some pizza (meatless of course for Lent) and watch a movie. Gee, I hope there is something worth watching.

I'm a what???

You Are a Colon

You are very orderly and fact driven.

You aren't concerned much with theories or dreams... only what's true or untrue.

You are brilliant and incredibly learned. Anything you know is well researched.

You like to make lists and sort through things step by step. You aren't subject to whim or emotions.

Your friends see you as a constant source of knowledge and advice.

(But they are a little sick of you being right all of the time!)

You excel in: Leadership positions

You get along best with: The Semi-Colon

Okay, so I do yet another one of of these blog quiz things and I find out that the punctuation mark that I am most like is a colon. Now, why doesn't it surprise me that I am like a portion of the anatomy that disposes of waste? Does that mean that my blog needs a colonoscopy to correct the grammar and punctuation??
