This and That Thursday

Time for more of my drivel:
  1. My son is packing to go back to school. It should be easy since he never really unpacked his things when he came home in the spring.
  2. I haven't seen the floor of my son's room since he came home in May.
  3. Cleaning and sanitizing of his room will commence when I get back from vacation. You can expect to not hear from me for at least a week.
  4. Just when I thought I was caught up with laundry, my son cleaned out his car. I now have an entire load of sweat shirts to wash.
  5. I love watching Top Chef, but I have no idea what a cheviche is.
Happy Thursday.

Monday Musing

It's Monday and I can't believe that my son will be home from school for only one more Monday. Where did the summer go?

It's been a different kind of summer for us. The loss of our Maxie set the tone for a more quiet summer than usual. I just wasn't up to the usual since so many things were different with out her around. There was no one to follow me up and down the steps or sit next to me on the sofa. No clicking of nails on the kitchen floor. No underwear stolen from the laundry and deposited at the top of the steps or under the dining room table. Eating has been much quieter with our our little beggar looking for vegetables. No one follows me the length of the pool as I swim. This is one summer that I will be glad to have behind me.

Break to dry tears and blow nose!

But I am looking forward to the fall and a long anticipated vacation. We will be traveling to Alaska with my parents on a cruise/land trip - a trip my parents have wanted to take for a long time. I know we'll have lots of fun and I will certainly enjoy spending time with my parents who are 80 and almost 87. It's so important to spend quality time with them. We are planning on taking them on a helicopter ride to view the glaciers. Having viewed the Grand Canyon in this manner, I know I want to see the glaciers that way too. And heck, I may never get back there, so I might as well do it up.

So now I must return to my day. This includes shopping, getting our son ready to return to school, this year in a town house so it requires a bit more than clothes and linens. And this week it also means taking care of McNaab, our neighbor's dog who is spending the week with us while his owners vacation in North Carolina. While they are there, they will visit with Nurse Nancy and her family as they are vacationing in just up the road from them.

Friday Funny

I love stores with self checkout. One reason is that I can pack my shopping bags the way I want - usually I separate things by where they will go when I get home. Then there's the fact that no one looks at you funny when you buy diet soda and cookies. But mostly because I can usually scan, pay and bag quicker than lots of the help at the store.

So shop, scan and don't be embarrassed by those M& M's and diet Coke!

This and That Thursday

It's been a busy two weeks. Herewith what's on my mind:

  1. My husband finally understands why I insist on going to the massage therapist who does muscle correction.
  2. He also understands why I sometimes come home with bruises from treatment. No pain, no gain.
  3. He also feels better now that he's had his muscles put back into place. It just works!
  4. We'll be dog sitting for our neighbor's dog next week. This should be interesting since I've never had any experience with a male dog. I just hope he's not into marking territory at my house.
  5. Getting my son ready to go back to school. Five young men in one townhouse. So far, there is no coordination of who's bringing what. Why am I not surprised?
  6. Does anyone else like the new show "The Philanthropist?" Great show.
  7. Last season for "Monk." This makes me so sad.
  8. My son going back to school makes me sad too.
How's your life these days?

Michael Jackson and Perestroika

I saw this picture of Nesting Michael Jackson dolls on Heather Bailey's blog and thought it was a wonderful interpretation of the evolution of Michael's face from the teenage years through his death. It was rumored that after so many surgeries on his nose, that he actually wore a prosthetic one.
