Hide and Seek

I've been picking beans from my garden the past week and a half or so. If you've never had a garden with bush beans, you don't know that picking beans is like playing hide and seek. You see, the beans hide among the leaves. It usually takes me at least a half an hour to rifle through the plants to find mature beans that are ready for picking.

So how's the harvest been you ask? I picked about 20 to 25 pounds of pea pods and so far, I picked about 20 pounds of beans and two cucumbers (with a many starting to grow). Not bad for an investment of about $4 in seeds, about a dollar of slow release fertilizer and this year, because of all the rain we've had, a bit of watering.

I would be happy to take some of those beans off your hands :) Hope to have some burgundy beans to add to your collection next week. Have flowers on the cucumbers too!

We can't grow a thing down here in Georgia with all the red clay but the father in law in Jersey reports a bumper crop of tomatoes this year....

Oh, I've been harvesting my beans too! And I also have 20....beans, dammit, not pounds...20 beans!
Next year will be better! I'm having you plant my garden, and then come up and tend it once a week! Works so very well me thinks! ;-)
