Erin Go Bragh-less

St. Patrick's Day is only eight days away and in our house, that means that it is time to make the Irish Whiskey Cake for this "holy day."

I am working on putting together a "how to" for this awesome, rich and whiskey filled cake. If you decide to make it, it's much better to make it several days in advance as, like most of us, it gets better with age.

A funny aside to this cake, I made it last year and a visiting priest was given some. At mass the next week, he asked me if I was the lady who make the wonderful cake that had the "holy water" in it.

Holy water cake! That's hilarious. Also so was your comment on my blog. Yes, I think it was meant to knock you out! My mother-in-law used this same recipe on all her children too. Lemon is an expectorant, honey soothes the cough and the whiskey makes you sleep. Sounds a little like Nyquil!

I cannot wait for the recipe! Just a side note, I asked tsannie why there was a handicap symbol next to the word verification...she told me it was for those that could not see. If I cannot see, how do I know the symbol is there? As junior flyboy would say, that is odd.....

Sorry Annie, no traveling cake. But I have had a request from my son to make one for him to take back to school - that'll go over good on a room inspection for alcohol!!!!

I'll explain more about the title on my next post.

Priests can be so cute sometimes...Holy water cake..that's good one...I usually love new recipes to try but being someone who gets sick if I even eat something that's been cooked in wine I have to pass on the whiskey soaked cake...My father would have loved it...For tomorrow's festivities I am making my famous Pistachio Cream Puffs....no liquor just lots of real whipped cream...
