Thursday Thoughts

So I skipped last week's thoughts. I can't remember why, but at my advancing age, I can get away with not remembering!

My Spawn will be leaving the nest after graduation. I had visions of him getting a job and moving back home. I also had visions of me in a size 10 pair of jeans. Neither of which will be happening any time in the near future.

Spawn has accepted a job in Connecticut. I am thrilled that he has a job - the job market being what it is these days - it's with a good company and comes with many great benefits. We are very proud of him. He has worked very hard in school and his efforts have paid off.

He will only be a bit farther away from home than he is now, so weekend visits on both ends won't be difficult. And since it's in Connecticut, we'll continue to have lots of opportunities to enjoy the company and hospitality of Nurse Nancy, Fly Boy and Junior Bird Man.

So now, I'm thinking about all the things he'll need for his new life - some furniture, kitchen things (he loves to cook) and all the other things one needs to set up housekeeping. So I have my work cut out for me - looking for sales and bargains. Of course, I'll be checking with him to see what he wants.

If you are interested....I have a double bed headboard, a dresser and night stand. They need a bit of cleaning up but are in good shape. They were mine when I was growing up....have some other things too!

Congratulations to him!

Yeah, this is the part I dread. The moving away for real part. College is temporary, and Big Brother is not so far away. But after college--who knows where he'll wind up.

I prefer to stick my head in the sand and not think about it.
